Bambu Lab H-Series: Multi-material meets engineering precision – Introducing the new H2C
The centerpiece: The new Vortek system

With the new H2C, Bambu Lab expands its H-series with a state-of-the-art multi-material system clearly aimed at professional users, workshops, and ambitious makers. The focus is on precision, automated material changes, and an impressively flexible architecture that goes far beyond classic desktop printers.
The H2C combines robust engineering with intelligent automation, which noticeably simplifies everyday work in additive manufacturing.
At the heart of the H2C is the Vortek hotend interchangeable system – an approach that takes multi-material printing to a new level.
Instead of classic filament switching, Bambu Lab relies on several fully automatically interchangeable hotends . This means:
-
Hotend change in seconds
No screws, no alignment, no manual readjustment. The printer automatically detects which hotend was last used and switches to the appropriate tool on its own. -
Up to 7 materials simultaneously
For complex projects, each hotend can be equipped with its own material or color. In combination with the automatic material system , up to 24 spools are even possible. -
Reduced filament loss through optimized changing processes
Purge cycles are reduced, and material changes are targeted and efficient. This reduces waste and increases productivity.
The Vortek system makes multi-material machining as easy as changing a tool in a modern CNC machine – only fully automatic.
Technology for demanding applications
The H-series is not intended for beginners, but for users who want to process materials beyond PLA.
The H2C comes with the appropriate equipment for this:
-
Installation space approx. 305 × 320 × 325 mm
Ideal for functional prototypes, larger technical components or multi-material components. -
Hotend temperature up to 350 °C
Essential for high-performance materials such as polycarbonate, nylon, composites or fiber-reinforced filaments. -
120 °C heated bed and heated chamber up to 65 °C
Perfect for demanding plastics where freedom from warping, layer adhesion and temperature stability are crucial. -
Various nozzle diameters (0.2–0.8 mm)
Flexible between detail resolution and fast extrusion. -
Integrated monitoring
Camera, sensors, automatic calibration and quality controls ensure reproducible results, even for long or complex print jobs.
This places the H2C technically between a high-end desktop printer and a compact manufacturing machine – ideal for professional working environments.
Who was the H-Series designed for?
The H2C is clearly designed for users who manufacture demanding technical components or complex multi-material structures:
-
Technical designers & prototyping teams
Ideal for functional prototypes, mechanical assemblies or parts that require specific material properties. -
Workshops, manufacturers & small series producers
Thanks to the automated hotend logic, jobs can be processed without constant intervention. -
Ambitious makers and creatives
Especially where precise color changes or the combination of several materials is desired. -
Users seeking stability and control
The enclosed build chamber, high temperature capability and integrated monitoring make the H2C interesting for functional components as well.
An outlook: New standards for professional multi-material printing
With the H-Series, Bambu Lab demonstrates how multi-material printing can evolve: away from complex mechanics, towards a well-designed, automated tool change that significantly increases productivity.
The H2C combines versatility, precision and automation into a system that is suitable for both professional use and ambitious private users who consciously want to go beyond the PLA level.
